Built with 2.5GbE connectivity, a quad-core processor, AES-NI hardware encryption engine, 4K HDMI output, and real-time transcoding, the TS-653D 6-Bay NAS Enclosure from QNAP not only provides users with a solution to upgrade to 2.5GbE environments for productive daily backup and restore tasks but also offers gamers resources for the vast gaming collections. The TS-635D also supports PCIe expansion with a PCIe 2.0 x2 slot, which can be fitted with a 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, an M.2 SSD for SSD cache acceleration, a 5GbE port, or a 10GbE port. Built with six drive bays that are capable of natively supporting 3.5" SATA III and SATA II hard drives, as well as 2.5" SATA hard drives and SSDs, this NAS will allow you to store and share many files, as it allows 800 maximum concurrent connections.
The TS-653D runs on the QTS 4.4.2 operating system. Its CPU is a 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron J4125 Quad-Core and its 4GB of DDR4 RAM allows frequently used files and applications to be quickly accessed. When connected using one 2.5GbE port, this NAS can deliver download speeds of up to 187 MB/s and upload speeds of 291 MB/s. With both 2.5GbE ports in use, download speeds increase to 376 MB/s and upload speeds are boosted to 498 MB/s. When using an optional 10GbE card, download speeds max out at 683 MB/s, while upload speeds reach 399 MB/s.
Also featured are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and three USB 2.0 Type-A ports which allow it to be connected to your compatible Windows or Mac system, and network connectivity is achieved via the two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing your stored data to be shared with users throughout the network. For those who require RAID support, the TS-653D supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and 50, as well as Synology Hybrid RAID and Basic RAID, each of which offers performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD and single are also available.
The TS-653D is engineered to be energy efficient. Not only does it offer two 90mm fans to help keep the system running cool, it supports numerous scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation to further reduce power consumption and operation expenses.
The QNAP TS-653D 6-Bay NAS Enclosure operates on 100-240 VAC and includes two Ethernet cables, a power cord, an AC adapter, flat head screws for 3.5" drives, and flat head screws for 2.5" drives. Protection is provided by a limited 2-year hardware warranty.
Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS) consolidates backup and synchronization functions for easily transferring data from the TS-653D to local, remote, and cloud storage spaces. HBS also supports QuDedup technology which removes duplicated data at the source, further accelerating backup and restoration tasks over 2.5GbE connections.
5GbE/10GbE Network Card
Enable fast throughput for bandwidth-demanding tasks, such as virtualization, massive data transmission, and fast backup/restoration.
QM2 M.2 SSD/10GbE Card
Adds M.2 SSD caching or 10GbE connectivity to the NAS for optimized performance and bandwidth.
Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Adapter
Install a PCIe Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) network adapter, based on the Intel AX200, in your NAS to create a Wi-Fi 6 network environment.
Wireless Adapter
Turn your NAS into a wireless access point or a base station by installing a QNAP QWA-AC2600 wireless adapter and the WirelessAP Station app.
SSD Over-Provisioning
You can add additional SSD over-provisioning (1% ~60%) to avoid write amplification and improve SSD random write speeds and endurance. You can potentially attain enterprise-grade SSD performance levels from affordable consumer SSDs.
SSD Cache Acceleration
Enables SSD caching for increasing IOPS performance and reducing latency for storage volumes. This feature is good for IOPS-demanding applications including databases and virtualization. The TS-653D also supports a write-only cache to boost write-intensive applications.
Qtier for Auto-Tiering
Qtier technology drives auto-tiered storage with continuous data optimization across high-performance SSDs and high-capacity HDDs based on access frequency. I/O-Aware Qtier can reserve a cache-like space in the SSD tiered to handle burst I/O in real-time.
Note: The TS-653D's hardware provides hardware decoding, encoding, and transcoding capabilities. However, playback quality may vary due to factors including playback software, file formats, system usage, and available bandwidth.
Note: PlexPass is required for Plex Media Server hardware transcoding.
HybridMount File-Based Cloud Gateway
Flexibly expand your storage capacity by connecting to cloud storage. You can leverage QTS apps to manage and edit your cloud files or multimedia files. HybridMount is good for file server online collaboration and file-level data analysis.
VJBOD Cloud Block-Based Cloud Gateway
VJBOD Cloud supports streamlined NAS backup to object cloud storage. The block-based data transmission uploads random data and large files to the cloud in blocks, and only transmits block-based volume or LUN changes, such as addition, modification, or deletion. This is ideal for enterprise-level applications with large file transfer requirements, such as databases, VM volumes, and videos.
Virtualization Station
Run multiple Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Android virtual machines and access them via a web browser or Virtual Network Computing (VNC). Businesses can run virtualized server applications on a single NAS without the need for additional physical servers.
Container Station
Experience LXC and Docker lightweight virtualization technologies, download apps from the built-in Docker Hub Registry, import, and export containers, and create abundant microservices.
Consolidates all QTS system events, alerts, and notifications for smooth and easy NAS management, keeping you always informed of your NAS status.
Security Counselor
A security portal for checking weaknesses and providing recommendations for enhancing NAS security. It also integrates anti-virus and anti-malware scanning software.
Search
QNAP's Google-like search tool for quickly finding specific images, music, videos, documents, and emails by keywords, color, and more search conditions.
Boxafe
Allows you to backup or sync files, emails, calendars, and contacts from Google G Suite and Microsoft Office 365 into the NAS to safeguard enterprise cloud data.
Magie
An AI-powered photo management app, supporting automated photo categorization with AI Albums, iOS Live Photo display, and a powerful search tool for photo management and sharing solutions.
Qmiix
An Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) solution that enables you to connect apps and devices with QNAP NAS for automating daily tasks for greater productivity.
Upgrade RAID Capacity
Hot-swap lower-capacity drives with larger-capacity drives to expand your NAS capacity so it can grow with your business.
Attach Expansion Enclosures
Connect two TR-004 RAID expansion enclosures, or one 8-bay TL-D800C USB 3.2 Gen 2 JBOD, or one 16-bay TL-D1600S SATA 6 Gb/s JBOD, and use the QTS Storage & Snapshots Manager to easily handle NAS capacity expansion.
Migrate to a New NAS
Install your NAS hard drives into a larger QNAP NAS and retain all your existing data and configurations.
